Welcome to Barker Lemar
Environomics, you can’t look it up in the dictionary, you won’t find it in Wikipedia, but you will get search results when you Google it. Barker Lemar did not coin the phrase; however we are endeavoring to put it into practice in every project where it makes good sense. What is environomics? At Barker Lemar we define it this way: striking a balance between free markets and green environments or in other words making environmental stewardship pay.
Barker Lemar is headquartered in West Des Moines with a second office in St. Louis and we offer a wide range of design and engineering services that include civil/land survey, environmental, solid waste, information technology and construction services. Like most firms, we have areas of expertise and our environmental and solid waste experience rank us among the top performing firms in the Midwest with regard to number, variety and innovation of projects completed.
Our depth and breadth of experience in working with the land every day leads us to environomics. It is critical to our continued success to achieve a balance between good business decisions and green environments and perhaps even more importantly to develop tools, applications and strategies that ensure we meet this challenge. To that end, we have developed storm water modeling and watershed based assessment tools, installed conservation design applications at our own facility and at a “green” lake development in Southern Iowa and are developing strategies for banking and credit trading programs that allow individuals and companies to make the right choice for good reason.
